At Tecuen, we know that coffee preferences are as unique as the people who enjoy them. Two of the most commonly confused coffee drinks are drip coffee, which we call Fresh Coffee, and the Americano. While both offer a rich and satisfying coffee experience, they are made using different brewing methods, resulting in distinct flavors and textures. And for those who like to explore even further, we can also prepare a Long Black by special request! Let’s break down the differences.

Fresh Coffee (Drip Coffee)
Our Fresh Coffee is our daily brewed drip coffee, made by slowly passing hot water through a bed of ground coffee. This method extracts a balanced flavor over several minutes, resulting in a smooth and well-rounded cup with mild acidity and a clean finish.
Key Features:
Brewed in batches, ensuring consistent quality throughout the day.
Mellow and balanced, with nuanced flavors from the beans.
Lighter body compared to espresso-based drinks.
Ideal for those who enjoy a traditional, easy-drinking cup of coffee.
Americano
An Americano is made by adding hot water to a shot (or two) of espresso. This method dilutes the espresso, making it smoother and easier to drink while preserving its rich espresso flavor and crema.
Key Features:
Made to order, ensuring freshness with every cup.
Bolder than drip coffee, with a deeper, more concentrated flavor.
Retains some of the crema from the espresso, adding a velvety texture.
Great for those who love espresso but prefer a larger, less intense drink.
Long Black (By Special Request)
A Long Black is similar to an Americano but is made by reversing the order: hot water is added first, and then espresso is poured over it. This technique helps preserve the crema and results in a more pronounced flavor.
Key Features:
Stronger and more robust than an Americano.
Retains more of the espresso’s natural oils and texture.
Slightly smaller in volume than an Americano but with a richer taste.
Preferred by those who enjoy a bold espresso-forward experience.
Which One Should You Choose?
If you love a classic, smooth coffee that you can sip throughout the day, go for Fresh Coffee (Drip Coffee).
If you enjoy a bolder, espresso-based drink with a bit more body, an Americano is your best bet.
If you prefer a stronger, richer version of an Americano, ask for a Long Black and experience a more intense espresso flavor.
